The Family and Carers Mental Health Program is an exciting new program being rolled out across NSW and Greater Western Area Health Services. It is a partnership with Health and Carers NSW.
The program aims to improve the Family and Carers well-being and the outcomes for the consumer. It hopes to increase Family & Carer knowledge and the ability to cope effectively, be supported to have continuous involvement in the journey with their loved one with open communication between services and the Family & Carer. Carers NSW will be employing 2 people in each hub of Carers NSW will not only provide education and training in program such as Foundations, 8-Stages of Healing, Talk-Link, SMILES and Koori Yarning to build coping skills and resilience but also support services including direct provision of individual support, information, advocacy and peer support. Carer Coordinators employed by Health are to train Mental Health staff in Family & Carers needs and develop supports so that families and carers are recognised, supported and included in treatment planning and service provision.

Dementia Carer Support Groups Canowindra and District Dementia Support group meet Orange: Dementia Carer Fellowship group meet 2nd
